Just like last week, Japanese television “celebrities” sought the ten most popular items on a chain restaurant’s menu. Tonight, it was Krispy Kreme.

  4. Original Glazed Dozen
  5. Almond Ghana Chocolate Heart*
  6. Strawberry Kreamy Chocolate Heart*
  7. Cookies & Kream Rich

  9. Caramel Walnuts
  10. Glazed Chocolate Cake

And a few others:

  • Cinnamon Sugar (12)
  • Chocolate Iced Glazed (14)
  • Chocolate Iced Glazed Cruller (21)

This was a weird show in that rather than simply stick to the donuts, sets of donuts were also included. But that would leave too few choices, as Krispy Kreme Japan only offers 12-15 donuts at any one time. This way, there were 22 choices - still the smallest number ever seen on the show (which means the chocolate iced glazed cruller is really unpopular)

A note about the popularity of boxes: here in Japan Krispy Kremes are regularly crowded with lines out the door. Ordering a box of donuts allows customers to skip the line and go straight in. I bet that accounts for a lot of extra sales.
